Нещодавно колекція Меморіального музею-садиби гончарської родини Пошивайлів поповнилася новими експонатами. Це багаторіжкові свічники виконані гончарем, заслуженим майстром народної творчості України, лауреатом Всеукраїнської літературно-мистецької премії імені Івана Нечуя-Левицького Миколою Пошивайлом (1930 р.н.). Свічники вражають оригінальним рішенням.

Для людей, які цікавляться народним мистецтвом, відвідини Меморіального музею-садиби гончарської родини Пошивайлів – справжнє свято. Часто, оглянувши експозиції та прослухавши розповідь екскурсовода, вони діляться не тільки своїми враженнями від побаченого й почутого, а й розповідають про власні надбання та проекти.

Чимало знанихмайстрів творили велич опішненської кераміки. І нині вона знана у світі. Свою лепту в її розвиток вніс і талановитий мистець Юрко Пошивайло (1968 р.н.). Мистецькі вподобання його досить широкі: гончар, художник, фотохудожник. Найбільше проявив себе у видавничій діяльності. Нині – головний художник Національного музею-заповідника українського гончарства в Опішному.
Потяг до глини жив у серці Юрка завжди. Спостерігаючи за роботою дідуся Гаврила та батька Миколи, не залишився байдужим до цього магічного матеріалу. Ліпити почав ще в дитинстві. В експозиції Меморіального музею-садиби гончарської родини Пошивайлів зберігаються його скульптури «Баранчик», «Чоловік», композиція «Бій півників», декоративна посудина «Тиква».
Нині захоплюється виготовленням «монетки» – мініатюрного простого і мальованого посуду.

Цьогорічна творча практика студентів Харківської державної академії культури, що вже традиційно проходить в Опішному, виявилася не менш плідною і цікавою, ніж в попередні роки.
Перший крок у освоєнні декоративної мальовки на папері студенти здійснили під час майстер-класу, який провела майстер Анна Матвієнко (Котельва, Україна).
Розповідає Анна Матвієнко: «…мені довелося познайомитися з молодими людьми, які в майбутньому повинні стати культурологами, викладачами і знавцями українського мистецтва. Дуже така цікава аудиторія, тому що кожен із цих студентів – це була особистість, і вони мали вже певний досвід спілкування з мистцями різних видів мистецтв. Разом з тим саме місто (Опішне) пропонує їм велику кількість музеїв і виставок, які вони могли відвідати, і в плані мистецькому це були люди вже підготовлені, але якраз в плані декоративного малювання їм знань можна сказати бракувало. Тому я їх познайомила з історією цього давнього виду мистецтва, зокрема з технічними особливостями.
Дякуючи організаторам, майстер-клас пройшов у дуже гарній атмосфері, хлопці та дівчата старалися, і роботи вийшли гарні. Вважаю, що такі заходи необхідні, і сподіваюсь на їх продовження».

Петро Максимович Кононенко (1872–1942) народився в Лохвицькому повіті Полтавської губернії. Після закінчення школи продовжив навчання в Харкові, потім у Москві (Строганівське училище технічного малювання). Опісля приїхав у с.Малі Будища, що поряд зі славнозвісним гончарним осередком – містечком Опішне. Там займався розписом церкви, малював ікони.
Працював учителем малювання в Опішненській гончарній майстерні Полтавського губернського земства, Опішненській керамічній професійно-технічній школі. Протягом 1930-х років був художником-керамістом в Опішненській артілі «Художній керамік», де розмальовував тарелі й вази жанровими картинами, пейзажами та портретами.
У колекції Меморіального музею-садиби гончарської родини Пошивайлів зберігаються дві роботи, оздоблені Петром Кононенком: таріль та підставка для квітів з написом «Малята в діт-садку».
