Сьогодні, 25 жовтня 2017 року, відійшов у засвіти один з корифеїв опішненського гончарства – заслужений майстер народної творчості України, член Національної спілки художників України, член Національної спілки майстрів народного мистецтва України, лауреат Всеукраїнської літературно-мистецької премії імені Івана Нечуя-Левицького Микола Пошивайло.
Усе життя – з любов’ю й самовідданістю – майстер віддав Глині. Вона вела його шляхом чесної праці, щирості, людяності й добра. Гончарські традиції славетного роду зростили в руках Талант, що прославив ім’я майстра й ремесло його прадідів у світах. Творча спадщина Миколи Пошивайла стала своєрідною енциклопедією народних технік роботи з матеріалом, прийомів декорування виробів, підтвердженням необмежених виражальних можливостей народної кераміки.
…Він до останніх днів не полишав своєї праці – щоранку поспішав до Музею гончарства, аби передати свої вміння гостям Опішного. Він не лише навчав творчості – більше, ділився жаром своєї безмежної любові до Глини.
Нині Опішне втратило одного з великих дивотворців…
Колективи Національного музею-заповідника українського гончарства в Опішному та Інституту керамології – відділення Інституту народознавства НАН України глибоко сумують з приводу цієї непоправної втрати. Спочинок Миколи Гавриловича – незагоєна рана для великої гончарської родини, скорбота для української мистецької спільноти за світлою, життєлюбною людиною великої душі й чуйного серця.
…Стихло Життя Майстра, спинився гончарний круг, схолола сіра грудочка в натруджених руках... Зійшла Зоря світлої навічної пам’яті…
