Фонд Національного музею-заповідника українського гончарства в Опішному на кінець 2010 року налічує близько 47000 експонатів, придбаних через фондово-закупівельну комісію, зібраних у польових керамологічних і етнографічних експедиціях, подарованих мистцями, вченими й збирачами. Поряд з керамічними творами має колекції виробів традиційного побуту гончарів, які в майбутньому експонуватимуться на відтворених садибах кустарів кінця ХІХ – початку ХХ століття. Це вироби з дерева, металу, фарфору й фаянсу, писанки, рушники й сорочки, верхній одяг, тканні вироби, ікони, живопис.
Відвідувачі Національного музею-заповідника українського гончарства в Опішному мають можливість ознайомитися не лише з унікальними глиняними виробами народних мистців та професійних художників-керамістів, а й високохудожніми творами майстрів пензля. На другому поверсі музею знаходиться художня міні-галерея відомого полтавського художника Валерія Леонтійовича Мозока (1940–2008). Мистець закінчив Харківський художньо-промисловий інститут. Член Національної спілки художників України (1973), заслужений художник України (1994), живописець. У створених ним пейзажах, натюрмортах ми бачимо велику любов до рідної землі, природи. Те, що творив мистець, прекрасне. Викликає захоплення і портретний жанр художника.
Валерій Мозок малював портрети одним мазком, на одному подиху, вмів спіймати настрій людини, стан її душі й за допомогою пензля передати на полотні характер людини. Створені ним портрети народних майстрів Опішного заслуговують на особливу увагу. В міні-галереї представлено портрети гончаря Гаврила Пошивайла (1987) та його дружини – малювальниці Явдохи Пошивайло (1993), гончарки Насті Білик-Пошивайло (1993), гончаря Григорія Кирячка (1996), гончаря Володимира Нікітченка (1996), малювальниці Параски Біляк (1990), лауреатів Національної премії України імені Тараса Шевченка та Премії імені Данила Щербаківського Василя Омеляненка (1990) та Михайла Китриша (1993), батька й сина – гончарів Івана та В’ячеслава Біликів (1996), лауреата Всеукраїнської літературно-мистецької премії імені Івана Нечуя-Левицького Миколи Пошивайла (2006).
Майже до останніх своїх днів Валерій Мозок працював у художній майстерні й на кафедрі образотворчого мистецтва Полтавського педагогічного університету імені В.Г.Короленка. В кожному своєму творі мистець залишив часточку своєї душі, мить розкриленого таланту природженого художника-портретиста.
