Дам поснідать дощику
Гарячого борщика
З глиняного горщика,
Щоб періщив добре
На родюче поле
Зеленого жита.
Ти робись, робися, горщику!
Гарні глеки в гончаря не залежуються.
У Хоми макітра,
У Пилипа – глек.
У Семена жонка хитра,
Як чорнявий грек, –
Позича макітру,
Позичає глек.
Ой, хитрюча бабо.
Цур їй, цур їй пек!
Заробив, як Хома на горшках: одного продав,
А дев’ять на голові баби побили.
Ремесла у гончаря не віднімеш.
Жартуй, глечичок, поки вушко не одірветься!
В розбитому горщику каші не звариш.
Ой, гелгоче горно,
Наче в млині жорно.
Хай гелгоче горно, –
До пори все чорно…
Покохала гончаря.
Що мені робити?!
Бо тепер вже почала
Й глину з ним місити.
Давай з горщика вдвох, бо самому немає чого.
Був би горщик та було б у горщику,
А покришка найдеться!
Тільки-но глини накопав,
А вже хоче горщики робити.
Нехай горшки б’ються – на гончареву голову!
Круть-верть – в черепочку смерть!
Їхав піп у Тростянець.
Віз він дірку й куманець.
Доки милувавсь Охтиркою –
Вкрали куманця із діркою.
Осадила, мов горщик од жару одставила.
Не шукай у великій макітрі крупинку.
Глиняна баклага –
У жнива наснага.
До родичів ходи рідко,
В гончарню – частіше.
Нема хліба – їж з макітри пироги.
Крихку макітру легше розбити.
Ремесло не коромисло – плечей не відтягне.
Знають, знають гончарі:
Місяць дивиться згори, –
Як обпалиться товар,
Він пірнає у димар.
Гончар без круга,
Мов рослина без цвіту.
Ой, казала мати:
Не люби лиш гончаря –
Світ не видів мацапуру!
Лазить в глині, мов черв’як.
Дроворуб він. Замазура.
Горщик не боїться горнила.
А в Охтирці на Гусинці
Спече баба й чорта в ринці.
В кожну макітру
Сіло по вітру.
В кожний горщик –
Бризнув травневий дощик.
Та для них
У полив’яні миски
Не поклали бубликів низки.
Вітер і дощ одразу
За таку лиху образу, –
Хай йому буде грець! –
Та й сховались в куманець.
Продав глеки на базарі –
Циган гроші вкрав.
Нахапавсь доволі
Витрішок і гав.
Тріснутий горщик не дзвенить.
