В експозиції Меморіального музею-садиби гончарської родини Пошивайлів знаходиться глечик, виготовлений малобудищанським гончарем Павлом Пічкою в першій чверті ХХ століття. Виріб привертає до себе увагу багатством орнаменту: зовні тло вкрито темно-коричневим ангобом й оздоблено мальовкою – орнамент попередньо ритовано стекою, з наступним заповненням ангобами, весь тулуб декоровано дублюванням у вигляді рисок.
Павло Пічка народився 1852 року в селі Малі Будища, в родині козака Івана Пічки. Він був одним із найвідоміших гончарів кінця ХІХ – ХХ століття не лише в Малих Будищах, а й в усьому колишньому Зіньківському повіті. Виготовляв різноманітний полив’яний, теракотовий, а також мальований посуд. Асортимент складався з глечиків, макітер, горщиків, банок, чайників, мисок, покришок. Про Павла Пічку 1894 року згадував етнограф і археолог Іван Зарецький у своїй книзі «Гончарный промысел в Полтавской губернии», де зазначив, що майстер у гончарному виробництві застосовував усі тогочасні нововведення, у тому числі залізну вісь у гончарному кругові та жорна вдосконаленої конструкції.
Господарство Павла Пічки було найзаможнішим серед малобудищанських гончарів, тож у нього постійно працювали наймані гончарі. Упродовж 1880-х – 1910-х років був церковним старостою місцевої Різдво-Богородичної церкви.
Помер Павло Пічка на початку 1930-х років. Його вироби зберігаються в Національному музеї-заповіднику українського гончарства в Опішному, Меморіальному музеї-садибі гончарської родини Пошивайлів та приватній колекції керамолога, директора Інституту керамології – відділення Інституту народознавства НАН України, доктора історичних наук, професора Олеся Пошивайла, який доводиться праправнуком Павла Пічки по материнській лінії.
Сини Павла Пічки, Яків, Іван і Мефодій, теж були вправними гончарями, але в роки радянського тоталітарного режиму їхні долі складалися трагічно. Але це вже інша історія…
