Микола Гаврилович Пошивайло (27.05.1930) – відомий опішнянський гончар, заслужений майстер народної творчості України, лауреат Всеукраїнської літературно-мистецької премії імені Івана Нечуя-Левицького, член Національної спілки художників України й Національної спілки майстрів народного мистецтва України. Виготовляє надзвичайно широкий асортимент традиційного посуду: горщики, глечики, тиквасті глечики, тикви, ринки, миски, барила, зливушники. Значну частину його творчого доробку становить декоративна зооморфна скульптура у вигляді баранів, левів та биків. Також Микола Пошивайло створює сюжетні композиції на теми народного побуту. Він є неперевершеним майстром дитячої іграшки, яку виготовляє у вигляді найрізноманітніших тварин, птахів, вершників, баринь. Але візитівкою Миколи Пошивайла є фляндровані миски, оздоблення яких він доповнює зображенням риб і півнів.
Фляндрівка є однією з давніх технік орнаментування кераміки, яку застосовували опішнянські гончарі. Микола Пошивайло вдало продовжує цю традицію. «Дуже люблю малювати фляндрівкою, а риби і півні – це народні елементи, які мені подобаються», – говорить майстер. При фляндруванні ангоби (фарби) наносять на черепок з подальшим їх розтягуванням дерев’яною паличкою з гачком на кінці – «ключкою». Техніка мальовки вражає багатством уяви, різноманітність й неповторність кожного малюнка створюється за рахунок різних поєднань та комбінацій. «Волочок», «гребінчики», «квіти», «китичка», «кругла мальовка», «лапки», «сосонки», «овесець», «лиштва», «фіялочки», «доріжка», «дряпичка» – це все орнаментальні мотиви фляндрівки, які майстер вдало застосовує на своїх виробах. Мальовка виходить соковитою і барвистою. Микола Пошивайло утвердив у опішненському гончарстві свій власний творчий почерк. Його миски чітко вирізняються з-поміж інших, приваблюють безпосередністю й щирістю. Вони беззаперечно є окрасою не тільки Меморіального музею-садиби гончарської родини Пошивайлів, а й багатьох інших музеїв і приватних колекцій.
