27 травня 2014 року виповнюється 84 роки Миколі Гавриловичу Пошивайлу – славетному опішненському гончареві, заслуженому майстру народної творчості України, лауреату Всеукраїнської літературно-мистецької премії імені Івана Нечуя-Левицького, члена Національної спілки художників України й Національної спілки майстрів народного мистецтва України.

Цього року минає 15 річниця від дня відкриття Меморіального музею-садиби гончарської родини Пошивайлів. Мало хто знає, що натхненником та ініціатором створення Музею гончарства в Опішному була саме Явдоха Данилівна Пошивайло. Вона вболівала за збереження скарбів, розуміючи важливість створення музею для нащадків, – за підтримки онука Олеся Пошивайла почала створювати приватний музей. Приречені на забуття вишивані рушники, народні картини, старовинні ікони, глиняні вироби кінця ХІХ – початку ХХ століття вона розмістила у власній оселі поряд з творчими роботами свого чоловіка – потомственного гончаря Гаврила Ничипоровича Пошивайла. Таким чином їй вдалося зберегти багато перлин народного мистецтва полтавського краю. На початку 1970-х років Явдоха Пошивайло відкрила приватний музей кераміки для загалу. Першими його відвідувачами були сусіди, колеги по роботі в заводі «Художній керамік», учні гуртка «Сонячний круг». Пізніше районне й обласне керівництво почало привозити сюди делегації, в тому числі й чужоземні.

27 квітня 2014 року минає двадцять років, як відійшла за вічну межу Явдоха Данилівна Пошивайло – майстриня художньої мальовки, засновниця першого приватного музею кераміки в Україні.
Явдоха Данилівна Пошивайло (Бородавка) народилася 6 березня 1910 року в Опішному, в родині селянина-середняка. Росла сиротою. З досить раннього віку ходила по наймах, де опановувала мальовку в майстернях заможних гончарів. 1929 року вийшла заміж за потомственного гончаря Гаврила Ничипоровича Пошивайла. Від середини 1930-х років працювала малювальницею в артілі, згодом – заводі «Художній керамік», на Опішнянському заводі «Керамік». Після виходу на заслужений відпочинок удома розмальовувала вироби свого чоловіка й ліпила свистунці.
